Your Community Centre Needs YOU!

Local Funding Group

We are looking for volunteers to sit on a local funding group to come up with ideas and to help organise fund-raising activities in 2010/11.  Currently, room rental charges are not covering running costs which include minor maintenance, water rates and electricity costs.  It is imperative therefore to look for additional sources of funding.  External funding bids are being submitted on a continuous basis by members of our funding group, but we also need to raise money within the community to support the up-keep and development of the school buildings.  Some ideas which have been suggested are “sponsor a brick”, “100 Club”, “Swop Shop”, “Table Top Sale”.  If you would like to share your ideas and put them into practice to raise money for the community centre, then please contact:

Jane Guest (820125) Anne Jeremiah (828242) or Dave Taylor (828815)

Repair and Maintenance Group

We are looking for volunteers to deal with the routine repair and maintenance issues of the school buildings and grounds.  If you think you could offer help with minor maintenance jobs such as clearing gutterings, unblocking drains, cutting back briars, weeding the playground, cutting grass over the Spring/Summer months then we would like to hear from you.

Jane Guest (820125) Anne Jeremiah (828242) or Dave Taylor (828815)

Remember you can hire the school for community activities for £10 for 2 hours.  Contact: Ruth Davies (828575) or Anne Jeremiah (828242)

IT CLASSES

By popular demand, John and Julia will be running their informal IT classes starting in April 2010.  Whether it is the first time you have touched the computer or you wish to expand your knowledge – then these courses are for you.  Those who have attended classes before will know that individual support will be offered in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

Please contact John or Julia to “sign up” for the course as soon as possible and let them know what topics you would like covered.

John and Julia have offered to run classes on either Monday or Tuesday evenings, dependent on which is more convenient to our learners.

BT Community Fund has kindly granted us broadband access and a new laptop p.c. so that we can extend the number of participants!

A course of six lessons will cost £25 or £6 per session (includes tuition, IT equipment, standard Microsoft software and access to broadband)
